ROBOTICS: EV3 & Mechanics

Its time to master the Mindstorm! Campers will go learn the basics and fundamentals of the EV3 rover by assembling it from scratch and programming it to complete numerous challenges and obstacles. From ultrasonic to infrared, students will combine multiple types of sensors with motors and block programming to create a practically autonomous rover that is able to measure, respond, and react to their environment. Are you up to the challenge?

CHEMISTRY

Chemistry is a fun, messy and interactive science! Campers will learn all about molecules, chemical reactions, and why things go boom! We will explore acids and bases, endothermic and exothermic reactions, phase changes and even make our own creations of wacky fun projects such as, non-Newtonian fluids, Bouncy polymers, and Bubbling lava bottle.

CODING: Scratch, Python, Java w/ Minecraft, & Game Maker Studio

With coding becoming one of the most useful skills just anybody anyone can pick up, children are being exposed to its wonders at earlier ages. Through the use of various coding languages, campers will have the opportunity to learn the basic fundamentals of code and create their very own fun and interactive projects and games!

STOP MOTION & CLAY-MATION

Stop Motion Animation is the classic art of animating through the movement of physical objects frame by frame, picture by picture, and strung together to create a moving masterpiece! Various famous films have been created in such a way, such as Wallace and Gromit, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Kubo and The Two Strings, and Coraline! Campers will have the opportunity to explore LEGO Stop Motion & Clay-mation while learning about the various techniques that go into making fun animated films!

FLIGHT SCIENCE

The sky is not the limit, it's only the beginning! Campers will explore everything from the origins of flight, navigation and the future of science in aviation. Come build and fly model planes, while learning the forces involved with keeping an airplane in the sky.

Full List of Classes
Class
Description
Art - Digital Art & Production
Campers put their stylistic techniques and creativity to the test by mixing art with technology and programming. Using tablets, campers will create 3D characters and incorporate them into their own computer games using Scratch software. They will end the week with stop-motion! From creating storyboards to crafting their own unique sets and characters - campers will take on the role of director and producer, capturing frame by frame in order to create their own motion pictures.
Art - Stop-Motion Xplosion!
Coding - Game Maker Studio
How do we create our first game? We'll be using the GMSII software to work on a basic platformer game in the Metroidvania style. We'll learn how to code user interfaces and control mechanisms in order to create the necessary systems that can make a game work. We'll also work with graphics manipulation to learn how to edit our graphics to make them suitable for games, which means image editing skills as well. By the end of this project, we'll have a complete platformer game project including movement, enemies, traps, a health system, and level navigation!
Coding - Java & Modding Minecraft
Campers will learn about Java as well as how to use it to create coding modifications for the game Minecraft. We'll learn how to use Eclipse and how to set up a developer environment as well as more advanced topics in Java including classes, objects, and how we can use them to create new Minecraft content such as new items, blocks, or new game functionalities!
Coding - Python
YouTube, Google, Instagram, Spotify - What do all of these software programs have in common? Python! Venture into the practically infinite relam of computer programming language that is the foundation of many of the biggest websites. Campers will learn this popular coding language to complete several projects, such as creating a basic role playing game.
Coding - Scratch
Coding is becoming one of the most useful skills out there and anyone can pick it up. Children are being exposed to its wonders at early ages. Through the use of Scratch's block coding language, campers will have the opportunity to learn basic fundamentals of code and create their very own fun and interactive games!
Electronics - Raspberry Pi/Arduino
What is a circuit? How do they work? This week, we'll learn how to put circuits together to accomplish introductory tasks as well as learn about the individual components in a circuit. Lastly, we'll spend time working with some basic coding that will allow us to control the circuits through dynamically altering input voltages.
Electronics - SMART Circuits
Campers will craft circuits out of every day materials and explore the world of electronics through a progression of projects and exciting activities! These take home projects will teach not only what electricity is, but how it works.
Engineering - Ancient Technologies
Would you like to build a castle and then tear it down with seige weapons? Come design, build, and test out your model windmills, ships and chariot! We will analyze how these ancient technology can still be observed in modern times.
Engineering - City of the Future
Campers will put their imagination, ingenuity, and general knowledge to the test. City of the Future is a week-long excercise in solving problems that many cities will face in the near-future. Students will work in teams to create solutions to the challenges they are tasked with. Using a variety of skills, our future engineers will complete a diorama of what they envision the future to behold.
Engineering - Drone Crafting
Its time to put on your Captains hat for one of the most exciting weeks to come, Drone Engineering! Campers will not only engineer their own quadcopters, but also learn what it takes to be a true aviator! How do aircraft navigate the vast and mysterious skies? How is something so heavy able to stay in the air for so long? What is the difference between a UAV & Drone? Find out the answers to these questions and so much more!
Engineering - Flight Science
The sky is not the limit, it's only the beginning! Campers will explore everything from the origins of flight, navigation and the future of science in aviation. Come build and fly model planes, while learning the forces involved with keeping an airplane in the sky.
Engineering - MakerSpace
Students will learn Engineering Design principals as well as 3D printing, 3D modeling, and much more. Campers will have access to a variety of tools to express their inner inventor!
Robotics - EV3 Mindstorms
Its time to master the Mindstorm! Campers will go learn the basics and fundamentals of the EV3 rover by assembling it from scratch and programming it to complete numerous challenges and obstacles. From ultrasonic to infrared, students will combine multiple types of sensors with motors and block programming to create a practically autonomous rover that is able to measure, respond, and react to their environment. Are you up to the challege?
Robotics - Mechanics, Motors & Sensors
Campers learn how motors, sensors, and other mechanics are used in everyday tech, and put their knowledge to the test by building mehanized Lego construcuts ... but the fun doesnt stop there! They will combine engineering and circuitry to create their own custom models of planes, cars and more, using D/C motors!
